The New Online Money Making Techniques -- Ready for Wealth 2.0?

Increased social networking, ad-hoc support groups, decreasing social sense of privacy, increasing identify thefts, increasing tolerance from businesses to negative comments from guests online, the ubiquitous cell phone/mobile device and related trends have pushed the Internet, mobile device, GPS worlds together - resulting in a steady shift of money-making paradigm in the brave, new world. New online money making techniques are mushrooming, complementing or replacing the early days of e-commerce for those who are willing to take their chances and capitalize on the new needs and dangers introduced by the shifting paradigm. Are you Ready for Wealth 2.0?

Solving some of the top problems in this new world gives you the opportunity to generate considerable wealth for yourself. Let us examine a few of these money making opportunities:

  1. Trusted provider of information: With the advent of the Internet, anonymous providers of information mushroomed - which immediately created the problem of authentication of information. Legal recourses have been too slow to come down heavily on purveyors of misinformation, while actual damage has long been done. With increase in social networking, the possibility of misinformation has multiplied and the need for authenticating a source of information, or classifying some as a trusted provider of information has only grown. A solution to this problem has far reaching potential, and many corporations would love to gain such technology.
  2. Identity Anonymization: The flip side of the increased trend of social networking is the need for certain sites to permit anonymization of identify while still being able to authenticate a user. For example financial sites want to get just enough information to authenticate a user without needing them to give any personal details - while maintaining site security at the same time. User ID/passwords are not secure enough, while asking for other personal details from users is not the answer. Adding another layer of codes makes security cumbersome and unwieldy. A form of identity anonymization will be a sought after solution by many financial websites.
  3. Readying sites for Mobile Devices: With the arrival of the iPhone phenomenon, the need for any website to be ready for mobile device access has become a requirement for staying in business. While most phones today are able to provide applicable content from various websites, it may yet not provide the best experience for the user. Also, websites and the business behind them need to be ready for taking orders via SMS, handle returns and other aspects of business by SMS, IMs and all forms of interaction through the mobile device.
  4. Guaranteeing Personal Loans on Social Networks: Social Networking has promoted the loaning of small loans between members, and a few other sites are trying to act as a guarantor of these loans. However, this area is ripe for new forms of innovation to guarantee the loaning and return of money.
  5. Synchronizing Home Theatre and Mobile Device: Following on the trend of increasing use of "Lifestyle Enablers", that is mobile devices, some useful innovations in the space of synchronizing home theaters with mobile devices will find many takers. For example, synchronizing your mobile device movie with chapters on your home DVD would be a useful service to have.
  6. Unobtrusive advertising on Mobile Device: Further building on the mobile trend is the need for unobtrusive advertising. If you can provide an innovative method of allowing advertisers to mix in their messages with useful content in an unobtrusive fashion such that users not only tolerate, but look forward to those messages - you would have tapped into a potential multi-billion dollar industry. A simple example would be for relevant coupons to accompany the search for a restaurant - placed such that the user expects such a coupon to be available and thus is willing to hear the accompanying message.
  7. Using a web-camera to validate users in a match making site: Sites such as Match.com and eHarmony.com have exploded in popularity. And yet, false advertising, especially about their looks is a persistent problem. Innovations such as forcing the use of a live, current photograph using web-cameras or other means would be welcome by such sites.
  8. Biometric authorization anyone? - While sharing personal information over the web has become ripe with hazards, yet when absolute authentication is needed, there is little to replace biometric authorization. Fingerprints, eye-scans, even DNA tests could potentially be performed locally and results transmitted securely. Innovation in this space such that hackers are unable to get to this most vital piece of information will be richly rewarded!

The above is but a small list of the overall area of innovation that is needed in the new world of increased connectivity, risk and ad-hoc networks. The innovation providers will undoubtedly strike it rich provided they have the right idea and the ability to execute on the idea.
