The most important tool in your journey to the land of the super-rich is discipline. It is possible that what attracts you to the land of the rich is the possibility of leading a spoilt, profligate lifestyle - but what will get you there is nothing short of a saint-like discipline and self-control. You are a human-being of infinite spirit and potential, but the flesh must rest, and the mind must refresh. These are the means to your ends - but wasting energy in unproductive activities only acts as a serious leakage of intensity and effort from your endeavor. Seek out discipline and self-control first.
Never lose confidence. This intangible is the difference between the unfulfilled talent and that of remarkable achievement. If you fail in achieving your objectives, learn from it and look for your next opportunity. It is often a string of failures that hardens a person from within and teaches them to apply their energies at just the right spots. Thomas Watson, founder of IBM, said "If you want to increase your successes, double the rate of your failures!" And never lose confidence!
Learn to speak well. Join a Toastmaster's club and learn the nuances of public speech. Attend a Dale Carnegie public speaking course and learn to speak. Speak with passion and belief in what you are saying. Always be polite and courteous. Expand your vocabulary so that you are articulate in your speech. Learn to tune your language to the level of your audience (for example, non-native speakers may have a much smaller range of the language at their command).
Pick up a foreign tongue - it will expand your brain in ways you cannot begin to comprehend. An entire new culture and civilization becomes a part of you now infusing you with a zest you never knew existed. Not to mention that this foreign tongue may actually help you conduct business in the ever shrinking globe.
Learn marketing and sales. These are the lifeblood of any business endeavor, and generating leads and closing sales is the ultimate money-maker. The best way to learn sales is to be a sales-person. Either in a large firm, or as an independent agent - where your salary is dependent on the number of sales you make. Not having anyway to pay your rent unless you close a sale is an excellent motivator for learning to make that cold-call, following up, being persuasive and finally in closing the deal. It quickly helps you identify where a deal is possible versus where you are simply being stringed along. You learn about product positioning vis-à-vis your target audience. You learn to be quick on your feet and in your thoughts - while still generating trust from your listeners. Similarly, marketing teaches you all about generating leads and following through on your leads. You learn how to judge your general market, the dominant mood of your target audience - and how to ensure that your product is perceived as the answer to your potential clients' problems. Master these skills as absolute imperatives in your path towards a multi-millionaire status.
Develop plans for large scale production, as well as set up a marketing campaign in support of your product. Arrange for suitable credit to finance all these activities - then launch your program. Track and monitor progress on all these fronts - and you will soon be handling a multi-million dollar revenue business and be on your way to the world of the super-rich!
